Secondary Library
The secondary library serves students 6-12th grade. In the secondary school, students no longer have a fixed schedule for library classes. Instead, the main focus is on the development of research skills that will allow them to become confident and proficient users of information. Teachers, in collaboration with the librarian, develop projects which focus on combining the components of the curriculum with the skills needed for information literacy and research. In addition, many classes book time for book talks and reading activities to promote lifelong reading skills.
The collection in the secondary library is developing (currently at 5,000), with a focus on developing resources to support the curriculums at the MYP and IB level. Specialized collections of Mother Tongue, Story Collection, and College Planning are available for students at this level. In addition, the secondary library subscribes to 25 magazines for research and browsing.
