Ethics

Applicant Ethics

The applications process is one that demands integrity from each and every individual involved. Admissions officers view unethical behaviour seriously so you need to ensure that you act appropriately throughout the process.

Common ethical violations include:

  • Fabricating accomplishments and activities.
  • Submitting someone else’s work or heavily edited work as your own essay.
  • Applying ED to more than one college, or attempting to gain release from ED.
  • Stating an intended major when you have no intention of pursuing it.
  • Indicating ‘first choice’ to more than one college.
  • Submitting deposits to more than one college.
  • Failing to withdraw your application when accepted to more than one college.

Counsellor Ethics

The college counselor is honor-bound to report any serious social or academic difficulty in school, even after you have received an acceptance notification from a college.
