Some colleges and universities in the US look at your rank. That is, an indication of where you stand in your class in relation to your classmates as determined by your GPA. Most small schools like AIS do not rank their students. This is clearly stated in the AIS High School Profile that is included in all application documents, and colleges and universities accept the practice of not ranking.
