School Trips
AISL is committed to making the curriculum a broad and challenging experience. One of the goals of the school is to provide students with an opportunity to get to know and celebrate the host county, its culture and traditions. Field trips are regularly organized to take advantage of the wonders of Zambia. Many of these trips are subject-specific or multi-disciplinary exercises and may require two days or up to five to be completed. But whatever the destination, the field trips are relevant to the needs of our students, to their education and provide an opportunity to understand the importance of knowledge and understanding in our contemporary world.
Within the first few weeks of the first semester, an overnight-trip is planned for each year group. Students are given the opportunity to experience the outdoor life at an appropriate camping site near Lusaka. They prepare their own meals and participate in bonding exercises and/or games. The field trip program allows the students and teachers to interact in a milieu other than the classroom and promotes communication and leadership skills in an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment.
The school provides most of the camping equipment the students will need to participate on each trip. Because the numbers are increasing so much, it may be necessary for some of the groups to bring extra tents. The advisors of these groups will be notified.
Before a trip, the Field Trip Coordinator meets with the specific advisor(s) to make arrangements for the trip and to answer any questions that may arise. Below are information and pictures of various study trips.
