7th League Gala 2007:

Fantastic results ....... AIS Torpedoes won today's league by miles! Well done to you all - especially to those swimmers who opted to swim in every single event (even the events they don't particularly like) just to score points for the team - and in most cases, were rewarded by huge PB's in those events.

There were 55 PB's recorded today!!!

PB champs of the day:
* Oriana Findlay - 5 races, 5 PB's - you can't do much better than that!
* Danielle Findlay - 6 races*, 5 PB's (What did these girls eat for breakfast, I wonder? Please tell us the secret!)
* Cameron Mackintosh - 6 races*, 5 PB's
* Hano Smith - 5 races, 4 PB's
* Natasha Rusch - 5 races, 4 PB's
* Brandon Andrews - 5 races, 4 PB's

*Extra races not scheduled in the events list.

Then 3 PB's from the two Jessica's - Robertson and Schurz

And 2 PB's from Hannah Ryan, Sophia Graybill, Sarah Pickard, Alex van Vlaanderen, Eddie Royle, Aimee van Vlaanderen, Mieke van Vlaanderen, Zoë Frangeskides and Cuan Smith.

And a PB each from Crystal Findlay, Max Ryan and Timothy Schurz

Also, great performances from Nicolas and Jacob Bertram swimming in their first major gala for AIS Torpedoes, bagging a huge number of points for the Torpedoes and setting the baselines for their future PB's.

And for those of you who didn't get a PB today - please don't be discouraged. Sometimes galas are like 'bad hair days.' You try your hardest but for some reason it just doesn't come together. The good news is that these 'bad hair days' usually don't last and by the next gala, everything will fall into place and the PB's will come thick and fast. (And you hair will also look good!) Cuan and Muzeya - what is the hair colour scheme for the next gala??? Please don't disappoint us!

So, to summarise.....the big highlights of the day
* Cuan Smith broke the national age group record for the 50m freestyle. Way to go, Cuan!!!
* Fifty five PB's were recorded today by AIS swimmers .
* Twenty new times were set today by swimmers who swam these events for the first time ever. Ten of these new times were set by Nicolas and Jacob Bertram who really entered into the spirit of the gala by swimming every single event on offer. Other swimmers doing events for the first time ever were Crystal Findlay, Jessica Robertson, Peter Frost, Aimee van Vlaanderen, Mieke van Vlaanderen, Zoë Frangeskides, David Frost and Stefan Celeketic.
