The Grade 4 Performing Arts Assembly |
This past Wednesday, our Grade 4 students, together with our Grade 5s, shared their talents through music, dance and poetry. The Grade 4 students shared that, with Valentine's Day being last Tuesday, "love makes the world go around" and through their song, 'Round and Round', they asked the audience to think about, "What makes your world go around?" The students also explored that we can communicate our wish for peace and harmony by using the power of music as they sang "Shalom Chaverim & Tumba, Tumba". In honour of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous quote, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that", the students sang, 'This Little Light of Mine'.

Celebrating the 100th Day of School |
The AISL Primary School celebrated the 100th day of school this past Tuesday. As well as a milestone in the school calendar, it was a great opportunity to explore ways of thinking with the number 100. Lower primary grades explored a range of 100th day activities in the morning, creating collections of 10 or 100, measuring with 100g, 100ml, 100 seconds and 100 cm, etcetera. We celebrated with 100th Day cupcakes supported by parents and coordinated by the PTA. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a very special day for our Primary students!

Grade 2 Workshare |
Thank you to all of our Grade 2 parents who came to support the students' workshare last Friday. There was a wonderful turnout. Your positive energy and support for your child's learning was very inspirational for them and made them feel very proud to share their projects.

'The Great Kindness Challenge' |
We kicked off 'The Great Kindness Challenge' this week as a whole Primary school with a Monday morning assembly. With one whole school week dedicated to showing as many acts of kindness as possible, students from Preschool to Grade 5 have been using an ageD appropriate kindness checklist this week to raise awareness about being kind to others, or as we say here at AISL, "fill other people's buckets". If students complete all of the activities on their checklist this week, they will earn a 'Kindness Matters' bracelet.

Students share their creative talents at Monday's PALS |
This past Monday, students shared their creative talents during our PALS assembly. Grade 5 students shared pieces of environmental art inspired from their trip to Wildtracks earlier in the fall. Our Grade 1 students sang and danced to a song called, 'Body Language', while our Grade 4 and 5 choir sang three beautiful pieces. Thank you to Ms. Natalie, Ms. Hausman, and Mr. Mulangala for organising a lovely assembly. We look forward to our next PALS assembly on Monday, January 30th with G1 and G4 students sharing.

Thank you to all of our families who came out last Friday to support our Primary Talent Show. With 39 acts and 60 students performing, the show was an amazing mix of talents including poetry, speaking Spanish, singing, dancing, playing an instrument and drama. Thank you to Jenn Caldwell and Natalie Coombs for organising this great event and helping each child who was interested in participating put together and/or polish their act! It was a wonderful time for all.
