Secondary Office Hours | This is just a reminder to parents. The Secondary Office is open from 7:15-16:00 on Monday through Thursdays, and 7:15-14:30 on Fridays. | Author Visit | This past week we were lucky to have author John Coy on campus working with our secondary students. Since John is a young adult sports fiction specialist, he not only worked on story writing with our kids, but also worked with them in Physical Education classes. We appreciate the great learning experiences John led during his week with us on campus. A special thanks goes to our librarian, Terry Maguire, for arranging the visit.

Enormous Thanks! | If you were unable to attend the ISSEA Rugby festival that we held at the Secondary School this past weekend, you missed out on an amazing event! It was an incredible atmosphere of athletics, sportsmanship, and plenty of mud. Despite the adverse conditions, participants and spectators together had an amazingly positive experience. A special thanks goes out to everyone that made the event possible:

ISSEA Rugby | This coming weekend, we are proud to host three international schools from the ISSEA conference as well as some local teams during the ISSEA rugby tournament. I encourage our families to come out and watch thrilling matches of rugby being played throughout the days of Friday and Saturday. Put on your black and gold and cheer on our Leopards!

Semester 1 Reports | Semester 1 reports will be released on January 30th. These will include a student's ainal achievement level and effort grade in each course plus a whole lot more. Our grading and reporting system, ManageBac, provides a very thorough report card for secondary school students, particularly in the MYP. This depth of information means that some reports will be multiple pages. As a result, we will not be printing them and sending them home in hard copies. Instead, they will be posted to your child's ManageBac account on January 30th for your perusal. If you need assistance logging in to your ManageBac account or have not received the report by January 31st, please check in with Secondary School Secretary, MacheĢ Adonis (

School is back in session, and I am always amazed at how quickly the students can slip back into the groove of routine. This is good as things are going to ramp up in the next few weeks. Please review the important dates below and take note of the activities and events that involve your child. February is going to be a very busy month for all of our Leopards. I encourage you to help your child at home by maintaining a standard routine, the adolescent tonic, as much as possible.

Welcome back! I hope that everyone had a restful festive break and was able to spend lots of time with family and friends. My wife and I enjoyed spending all of our time with family, yet are extremely happy to be back in beautiful Zambia after experiencing the cold of winter. I am looking forward to the second half of the school year and working with all of our AISL families. The dirst half of the year was extremely positive, and I am hopeful that we will be able to keep up this energy through the remainder of the school year.

The winter holiday season is one of my favorite times of year. So many folks seem to walk a little lighter and exude a sense of cheer as well as a greater love for those around them. Since we are an international community at AISL, there is no reason why this has to stop after the holidays have come and passed. With so many cultures represented in our community, there is always a cause to celebrate. I encourage you to join me in making a commitment to carry forth the joy of life and love of our family and friends throughout the year of 2017.

Congrats to all of our Middle School music students for their participation in the festive holiday concert this week. I am always amazed at the progress our students make in a single semester. Great effort kiddos! Congrats to our DP Drama students for their authentic assessment performances last Friday. Each student group had to write, direct, produce, and perform an original dramatic piece. I was wowed by the end products and the tremendous amount of dedication it took to pull these off. Nicely done! Good luck to all of our horse riding ladies who will be in competition this coming weekend. Do us proud!

Congrats to all of our students that displayed incredible commitment and hard work to create the successful and powerful drama production of Anon(ymous). I was absolutely stunned by my first experience with AISL theatre. Your performance was truly astounding! Congrats once again to our sports teams. Golf, tennis, basketball, and swimming have once again represented our school with pride and deserve accolades for their accomplishments. Thanks for your integrity as AISL ambassadors and for the tremendous effort that goes into your achievements.

We are now neck deep into the first semester. The upcoming stretch until winter break is a great time for students to put in their best effort and apply themselves to their studies. I ask parents to keep your focus on your child's work ethic and not on the scores. Push them hard to DO their best, not to BE the best. This will have a much deeper long term effect on their life success. For more support for this idea, please refer to the parent resource below.
