Celebrating an Amazing Year in the Creative Arts

Congratulations to our incredible students here at AISL for their involvement in the creative arts this year.

Our hard-working students travelled to London for ISTA Drama workshops, to Johannesburg to participate in the AMIS Middle School Honor Choir Festival, to Harare for the ISSEA Band and Choir Festival, and to Maputo for ISSEA Art and Drama.

Countless students shared songs, original poems, and amazing drama improvisations at our six Middle School and High School Coffee House Open Mic events!

Students across all divisions were featured in drama productions this year including “Fame!” “Mutually Assured Destruction,” and “Adventures of a Comic Book Artist,” with our risk-taking students showing off their commitment and skills in song, dance, and dramatic performances on stage and also behind the scenes as directors, stage managers, and light and sound technicians.

Visual Arts showcased an extensive range and depth of work by our students in multiple PYP and MYP exhibitions in the theater gallery and the truly outstanding DP Exhibition in the Palm Pavilion.

The Tiyende Pamodzi Theater was alive with music all year starting with our Primary Talent Show, year-round Primary PA Showcases, the Pamodzi Experience concert featuring James Sakala, a huge Private Lesson Recital featuring over 50 students performers, the enormous All Choirs and All Bands Concerts, our hosting of the Umoya International Middle School Band Festival, and “Mwaiseni” Lusaka Arts Festival Opening Night Concert featuring Jerome Arab, Namvula, and Wezi, featuring outstanding collaborative performances with our High School Jazz Band and Middle School Choir.

We look forward to so much more next year as we host ISSEA Band and Choir and look forward to our visual art, music, and drama students travelling to Madagascar for AMIS Middle School Honor Choir, Namibia for the ISTA Middle School Drama Workshop, Mozambique for the Umoya Middle School Band Festival, and Tanzania for ISSEA Visual Art and Drama!
