Torie has recently been accepted to two tertiary institutions to study for a pre-medical degree. Both of these schools have offered Torie significant merit-based scholarships in recognition of her high school studies through the International Baccalaureate MYP and DP, and her college-readiness test scores. She is also likely to qualify for advanced credits for her performance in her IBDP Higher Level subjects. Well done Torie!
Florida Southern College, FL Torie’s admission letter states that, “The admission committee was very impressed with your application and chose you from a pool of immensely talented applicants. FSC believes that you are the type of student who will appreciate the numerous opportunities to participate in a dynamic, engaged learning environment.” The U.S. News & World Report, ranks Florida Southern among the Top 10 Regional Universities in the South (2020). Founded in Orlando in 1883, FSC is the oldest private college in Florida. Now located in the college town of Lakeland, Florida, the location appeals to students for offering a range of social activities and for its creative energy, stable economy, strong job market, and high quality of life. At FSC, students learn within small classes, which engage them with hands-on activities, discussions, presentations, guest speakers, and experiences designed to bring their education to life. Internships are a key part of their experiential education because they allow students to apply what they are learning in the classroom in real-world settings. Their educational experience can be further enhanced through undergraduate research: working closely with a faculty member to pursue scholarly research and creative activities in their field of study. Moreover, FSC’s Junior Journey program provides every new full-time undergraduate student a guaranteed domestic or foreign travel experience, which enables each student to take a journey, exploring new geographic and intellectual areas. www.flsouthern.edu University of Tampa, FL Torie has also been accepted to attend the University of Tampa. This school is a medium-sized comprehensive, private university offering undergraduate and graduate degrees. UT is regarded as one of the nation's best 384 institutions for undergraduate education by The Princeton Review. Only 15 percent of four-year colleges in the U.S. share this honor. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks UT in the top tier of the category Regional Universities (South), and for 2020 includes UT on five additional lists: Best Colleges for Veterans, Best Undergraduate Teaching, Best Value Schools, Most Innovative Schools, and Top Performers on Social Mobility. UT students distinguish themselves by taking an active role in campus life and the community. Motivated to ‘make a difference’, or simply to make friends, students find more than 140 clubs and organizations, including four major student publications and top-ranked NCAA Division II sports. In the wider community, there is much more to Tampa's location than beautiful beaches and pleasant year-round temperatures. With 2.7 million people, the Tampa Bay area is West Central Florida's center of government, commerce, communications, business, health care, scientific research, sports, culture, and entertainment. www.ut.edu Comments are closed.
