Last week, Shaina was the first of the class of 2024 to receive university admission decisions. She has been accepted by both Arizona State University and Baylor University to study for a Bachelor of Science on the Pre-Medicine programs.

Pre-medicine is a program rather than a specific major. The Pre-med program requires specific courses students must complete to apply for medical school, but it does give students the flexibility to pursue any major.  

Medical schools select students with majors in both non-science and science disciplines.  Regardless of major, it is vital for students to succeed in their academics.  Students also must develop strong qualities of leadership, interpersonal skills, ethics, and service. 

The pre-medicine program at most universities offers several services in order to prepare students for the often rigorous journey in becoming a doctor, including advising, the opportunity to attend professional workshops, research opportunities, and student organizations.
