 University of Glasgow, UK Khizar has been offered a place to study for the Bachelor of Science in Computing Science at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, UK. The University has been named ‘Scottish University of the Year 2022’ in The Times & The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022. The computing science degree for which Khizar applied is wide-ranging: from programming and engineering large software systems, to the design and evaluation of human-computer interfaces, algorithms, computer and network systems, artificial intelligence, information retrieval, and big data systems. Graduates with degrees in these areas are highly employable and can look forward to well-paid careers designing and building the digital technologies that underpin the global economy and, indeed, every aspect of human activity from healthcare through music to making the natural environment sustainable. www.gla.ac.uk   In recent weeks, Ben has learned that he has been accepted to two design schools and offered scholarships to attend. He applied to study for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Product/Industrial Design. ArtCenter College of Design, CA, USA The ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California has a visionary approach to art and design education, based on the College’s conservatory-like approach to teaching and learning; a desire for rich, intercultural and transdisciplinary dialogue; and a mandate to provide students with innovative learning and making spaces. This scholarship will cover 50% of tuition fees, and is renewable over the course of his four years of undergraduate study. This is based on merit and his strong portfolio.   Jerry has two further offers from universities to choose from with regard to his post-secondary education. Both have offered him a place to study for the Bachelor of Science with Honours in Computer Science. Simon Fraser University, Canada Simon Fraser University (SFU) in British Columbia is situated on three campuses. Established first, in 1965 on Burnaby Mountain, SFU was renowned in those early years as the “radical campus” for student activism. Today, the campus houses the majority of SFU’s world-class academic and research infrastructure. The Vancouver campus opened in 1989 to foster connections with the business community and meet the educational demands of working professionals. This program is offered through the College of Engineering and Computer Science. At Syracuse, future engineers and computer scientists can learn to create new knowledge and technologies through ten undergraduate majors. Students have access to nationally regarded research centers, state-of-the-art lab spaces, and challenging internships. Sample courses for the aerospace engineering major include: Aircraft Performance and Dynamics, Design/Analysis of Aerospace Structure, Helicopter Dynamics, and Introduction to Space Flight. Aerospace engineering majors have access to hands-on learning via the Fidelity MOTUS 622i, one of the world’s most advanced flight simulators. This is from Maastricht University in the Netherlands to study for the Bachelor of Arts in Digital Society, taught in English. This new programme is ideal for students who are interested in understanding how digital technologies are changing the world; eager to develop knowledge and skills to ensure that digital technologies result in good outcomes for different social groups; and for those open to various disciplinary perspectives and willing to learn how to combine them. The Digital Society bachelor’s programme provides tools to better understand the history of the digital revolution and the impact of digitalisation on today’s society, culture, and politics so that graduates can play an effective role in shaping the digital transformations of tomorrow.
