Congratulations go out this week to Teyah who is the first member of the Class of 2019 to receive a university acceptance! Teyah has been accepted to attend Royal Holloway, University of London in the United Kingdom to study for the Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, otherwise known as PPE.

PPE is an exciting course providing students with the opportunity to study three disciplines that are crucial for an understanding of the complex dynamics of today’s world. At Royal Holloway, students study a common foundation in the first year, and an advanced seminar and dissertation unit in their final year that develops links across the three disciplines – a distinctive feature of the course.

A PPE degree equips graduates with an enviable range of transferable skills, which makes graduates highly employable. It can lead to a broad range of careers in both the private and public sectors and also for professional training in areas such as law, accountancy, and management. Graduates are highly employable; between 85 and 93% of PPE graduates were in full time employment or further study within six months of graduation (Unistats 2015).

Although situated in 135 acres of parkland in Egham, Surrey, Royal Holloway is just 19 miles from central London and 7 miles from Heathrow Airport. Royal Holloway has a total of 9,511 students. Of these, 7,549 are from the UK or European Union and 1,962 are international (outside the EU) students. Notable alumni include novelist George Eliot, suffragette Emily Davison, the first woman doctor in the west Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, actor Mark Strong, EU Foreign Minister Baroness Cathy Ashton, broadcaster and scientist David Bellamy, and Paralympic triple gold medalist Sophie Christiansen. www.royalholloway.ac.uk
