Update to COVID GuidelinesOur COVID Task Force met last Friday, 1 October, to review our post international travel guidelines. The outcome of the robust discussion was as follows: Regardless of vaccination status: Neither self-isolation nor testing is required for members of the household who have not traveled. Return to campus after negative test results of all traveler(s), from testing on Days 3-5. This test can be taken at school on the morning of the third day. Please inform the nurse in advance. The other AISL Guidelines remain in place. Thank you to all who have written to the school on this topic. You raised some very valid points, which we took into consideration in making this decision. Following on from the above, we have revised our use of AISL Facilities at the weekend. Our apologies that an outdated link was sent out in error in last week’s newsletter. Continued Awareness Regarding Traffic on Leopards Hill Road. On Tuesday afternoon, there was an accident between a US Embassy bus and a car very near to the school. This did not involve anyone from AISL, nor was it an Embassy school bus though if it had been, the school would have communicated this immediately to the community. What the incident highlighted was the need for all of us to be extra careful on this particular stretch of the road, especially when turning into and out of the school entrance road. Poetry Day Although not World Poetry Day, which is in March, today is National Poetry Day in the UK and so here is a poem to share for your consideration. We Look With Uncertainty — Anne Hillman We look with uncertainty beyond the old choices for clear-cut answers to a softer, more permeable aliveness which is every moment at the brink of death; for something new is being born in us if we but let it. We stand at a new doorway, awaiting that which comes… daring to be human creatures, vulnerable to the beauty of existence. Learning to love Enjoy your weekend in this beautiful climate. We are really looking forward to celebrating Zambia Day next Friday just before we head into the break. With kind regards Dr. Oli Tooher-Hancock Director American International School of Lusaka Comments are closed.
