What a Difference a Year Makes I realized just yesterday that this time last year my husband and I were quarantining and working virtually from a hotel room in London. Who would ever have thought that would be a way anyone would exit an international school. This time last year, the community here was on the verge of another big wave, leading to subsequent COVID closures. Fear was still a huge factor. Much of our world is in a better place a year on, at least from a COVID perspective and as a community when we can begin to come together again. My hope is that next year we can have a year of deep community building. And Lest We Forget…WORLDWIDE COVID NUMBERS May 17, 2022
Owing to personal circumstances, Mark Hoffman will be leaving AISL on 20 May. Therefore this year the sports awards will be handed out in conjunction with the divisional grade level awards in Secondary and the final PALS assembly in Primary. More details out nearer the time. A more formal evening of celebration will resume in the next school year. AISL Board Election - Registration Required for Each Parent Voting The Board of Directors will be holding our annual Election General Meeting (EGM) on Thursday, 26 May at 18:00 hours. You will need to register via Zoom here by Wednesday, 25 May to be granted access to vote on Thursday the 26th. The meeting will be offered in person and virtually streamed in Zoom; however, the voting will be virtual in Election Runner. You are welcome to attend in person in the Tiyende Padmodzi Theatre and vote on your device or attend virtually with your personal zoom link emailed after registration. The EGM meeting is open to all parents or legal guardians of students, students and staff at AISL; however, only parents/guardians may vote. Each parent must: 1. Register and 2. be present at the meeting in person or virtually to vote. This year, we have three vacancies on the board to serve 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years. In accordance with the school’s Articles of Association, one of these vacancies must be filled by a parent who is affiliated with the U.S. government. The second vacancy is open to any school parent. We have many strong candidates for these positions, please see the Candidate Slate. If you have any questions for the candidates or in general please send them in advance also by Wednesday to the board@aislusaka.org. Save the Date. The AISL PTA Car Boot Sale is Back! Now that restrictions have been lifted significantly, the PTA requested for the annual PTA Car Boot sale to be back on campus. And so there will be one this year on 4 June. Details to follow in the PTA portal. Wishing you all a fun weekend and hoping to see many of the community at the PTA May Ball this Saturday. Looks set to be a fun evening. Thank you to the PTA for the organizing of this event over many months. With kind regards, Dr. Oli Tooher-Hancock Director Comments are closed.
