Dear AISL Community,
I hope everyone enjoyed the mid-semester break. There are only seven weeks until the end of the first semester on 17 December. And in between this time, we will celebrate Thanksgiving on 25-26 November. There is much learning to be done as we begin summative assessments and dig deep into inquiry.

Zambia Day
Zambia Day was wonderfully celebrated at AISL. It was certainly a day to remember fondly and a day of learning about our host culture. Circus Zambia was a hit with all ages and the workshops following, many led by our ancillary staff were beautifully crafted and highly engaging.

Upcoming Events:
All AISL events appear on the calendar, which is published on the website, but here is a snapshot summary of upcoming events:

• 29 October ISSEA Virtual Track and Field 10.00 am - 2.30 pm
• 29 October Halloween Trunk and Treat on the Primary track area from 4.00 pm - 6.00 pm

Tomorrow marks the first ISSEA event of the school year, albeit virtually. The ISSEA Heads are meeting in person in Addis for the event at the International Community School, which would ordinarily be hosting this event. I will be joining their meetings on a virtual platform and am personally looking forward to getting to know this activities' league. For me, it is the fifth such league I have been involved with, connecting with other like-international schools in the region. This is simply a very special experience for our students, giving them not only friendly competition, but also lifelong friends and memories to cherish. Even though it is virtual, we wish our athletes all the very best for tomorrow’s competition.


And to End the Week - A Poem to Consider
Take Nothing for Granted

          When I woke up this morning
          I found I was writing a poem in my dream
          and the only line I could hold on to
          was: take nothing for granted.
          So I will write down that one line
          and go looking for the rest;
          I will take nothing for granted.
