FCD Prevention Works: Two webinars that may be of interest...

17/5/2020

FCD Prevention Works is a highly regarded global non-profit substance abuse prevention organization. They are offering two free webinars, one for parents and one for students. Our very own Middle School Counselor, Ms. Driekie Smith highly recommends that students and parents attend these free webinars. Please contact her to discuss this further or register directly below. Please read on for more information.

There's no manual for raising a healthy kid. Parents receive plenty of conflicting information from a variety of sources. As a result, you or the parents around you may have a lot of questions about how to help teens live safe, healthy, rewarding lives, without unhealthy alcohol and other drug risks. And of course, parents are busy and short on time!

Please join FCD Prevention Works for a quick parent Q&A webinar. You can log-in from the comfort of your home, office, or other favorite internet hotspot. An FCD Prevention Specialist will answer your questions about substance use prevention from a health perspective.

Some topics we may cover during this live, online session include:
  • Where do the main pressures on kids to use drugs come from?
  • What is vaping and JUULing? How can I keep my kids away from it?
  • How much impact do parent attitudes and modeling have on teen use?
  • What dangers does marijuana pose to my child?
We invite school adults to share this invitation with any parents they think may benefit from this brief, information-packed session.

"I feel like (the FCD session) has made me a lot more aware of the risks involved with substance use."

"(The FCD Prevention Specialist) had so much insight and knowledge and he inspired me to be a better and stronger person and friend."

"FCD cleared up a lot of things that I had thought that weren't true. I felt more informed and will be better at handling certain situations."

This is just some of the feedback we have heard from the thousands of students around the world who have met with our highly-trained, engaging FCD Prevention Specialists.

We are now offering students the opportunity to meet with an FCD Prevention Specialist live, to answer their questions about substance misuse and staying healthy!

Some topics we may cover during this live, 30-minute session include:
  • Is marijuana addictive?
  • Is vaping healthy?
  • How do you know if someone has a substance use problem?
  • How do I help a friend who may be using alcohol or other drugs in risky ways?
There will also be time for students to submit their own questions.
This session is offered at a variety of different times.
Register for the one that works for your time zone!
