What I’m excited about this week…

Holiday! Classes will end at the usual time on Wednesday, 6 March and will resume at 07:30 on Monday, 18 March. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and are able to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

National Honor Society Induction! Congratulations to the newest members of our National Honor Society (NHS) chapter: Haley, Madison, Lorriane, Aryana, Shalizeh, and Ashley. They were inducted in a beautiful ceremony in the Palm Pavilion on Tuesday. Membership in NHS is reserved for students who have demonstrated the highest levels of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. To earn membership is a significant achievement. We should all be proud of our new inductees. The guest speaker at the ceremony was AISL teacher and community servant, Andrea Mwalula, who inspired the audience with the story of how she created an educational program to ensure that young long-term patients at the UTH cancer and pediatric wards can continue their schooling. Thank you to Mr. Potter and Dr. Stewart for serving as faculty advisors to the Lusaka Leopards chapter of the NHS.

ISAZ U19 Football and Netball National Championships! If you are able, please come cheer on our U19 Football and Netball teams as they compete in the ISAZ National Championships at ISL on 15-16 March. Congratulations to our scholar-athletes and their coaches for the hard work and determination required to get this far. Go Leopards!

Personal Project Expo! On Wednesday, 20 March from 14:30-15:30, our Grade 10 students will be holding their Personal Project Expo in the Palm Pavilion. The Personal Project is a year-long, self-directed project that serves as the culmination of the IB Middle Years Programme. The Expo is an opportunity for the students to share their projects with the community. Please come learn about their projects and celebrate their learning.
Youth Drone Academy! On 28 February, we hosted a three-hour build-your-own drone workshop run by Global Air Media from the United States. Five of our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Club students joined thirty other students from six schools in Lusaka to build a small drone, brainstorm uses for it, and create a business plan. Many thanks to Mr. Joseph Gibson from the U.S. Embassy for providing this great opportunity for our students to learn about technology and entrepreneurship.
