What I am excited about this week…

First Supper! This week we will hold another one of our fun AISL traditions: The First Supper. This event brings together the Grade 11 students and their teachers for dinner at a local restaurant. It marks the beginning of the students’ two-year learning adventure in the IB Diploma Programme (DP). Many thanks to Driekie Smith for organizing this AISL rite of passage.

Sharing Information! We work very hard to provide a lot of information about the school because we want our parents to understand and appreciate the expansive range of programs we offer. We are proud of our programs and want you to learn more so you can be equally proud that you have made the decision to join the AISL community. Please dedicate a few minutes each week to learn more about AISL. It is a great way to remain involved in your son or daughter’s education. The best sources are the weekly Leopard’s Tale newsletter, the website, and our Tuesday Parent Information Sessions.

First and foremost, please get into the habit of reading our weekly Leopard’s Tale newsletter. It is the authoritative source for up-to-date information about our programs and upcoming events. A significant amount of time and energy is dedicated to publishing it each week so please ensure that you take advantage of this rich resource. We try to avoid cluttering your inbox with a lot of emails and prefer instead to use this one consolidated resource. You can also read most of the articles on the Leopard’s Tale blog on our website.

Second, please remember that we host a weekly information session on some aspect of our programs all throughout the year. These sessions take place every Tuesday morning at 07:30. Although these are often targeted toward parents of students in certain grades, anyone is welcome to attend. Please get into the habit of coming by to have a coffee or tea and to learn something new about the school. We post the topics every week in the Leopard’s Tale and on our website’s calendar. Here are our next two presentations:
  • 27 August: Introduction to the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) for parents of students in Grades 6-10 at 07:30 in the Palm Pavilion.
  • 3 September: Introduction to the IB Diploma Programme (DP) for parents of students in Grades 11-12 at 07:30 in the Palm Pavilion.

Another great way to learn about the Primary School is the upcoming Open Day on 4 September. Please keep an eye on the Leopard’s Tale and SeeSaw for more information.
