What I’m excited about this week…

Mwaiseni Concert! Many thanks to everyone who attended Friday’s Lusaka Arts Festival opening concert, Mwaiseni. It was a great show featuring Jerome Arab, Namvula, Wezi and our very own jazz band and choir. After the concert, the PTA had beautifully decorated the theater lawn and brought in several food vendors and “The Dad Bar,” which was a huge hit. Thank you to Chel Illingworth, Dee Hausman, Janke Lindeque, Zamba Anamela, Edwin Kamangala, and the rest of the Creative Arts team for bringing such a great concert to the stage. Thanks also to James Biggs, Martina van Vlaanderen, and our support staff for all the setup. And thanks to the PTA for planning a great after party!

Lusaka Arts Festival! The Lusaka Arts Festival is still happening. You won’t want to miss the Arts Meander and the Round Midnight jazz concert both of which will be hosted at LICS on Friday, 10 May. You can learn more here. There is also a Carnival Day at LICS on Saturday.

Adventures of a Comic Book Artist! Don’t miss this year’s primary school play, Adventures of a Comic Book Artist. The students have been working very hard on practicing their parts. Please come celebrate and honor their hard work. Shows are in the PAC at 14:30 on 17 & 18 May.

IB Diploma Exams! Please join me in wishing the Grade 12 students good luck on their IB Diploma exams, which started Monday. I am happy to report that, as planned, the Pavilion has been an excellent venue for this testing. These exams are an opportunity for the students to demonstrate their learning across the entire two-year program. Many thanks to all our talented teachers who helped the students get to this point. Good luck seniors!
