![]() Dear AISL Community, First Public Performance Since March 2020 Tonight sees the first drama performance on the AISL stage with a live, albeit smaller audience, since the beginning of COVID. It is a play directed by IB Theatre students and it is simply wonderful to experience this form of normality in school. This is on the back of an incredible IB Extended Essay presentation by our seniors last night in the Pavilion. Congratulations to them on their timely completion of this key component of the IBDP. It is the depth of research skills gained that will enable them to have success in university. Remembering Significant Events in our History Another important teachable moment this week was today when on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11.00 am in 1918, the Armistice was declared. World War I was to be ‘the war to end all wars’. The learnings from this unnecessary war are still relevant today and worthy of discussion as millions lost their lives for no true benefit to anyone. Armistice Day, this Sunday, is reserved as a day to commemorate the end of the first world war and honour the veterans of both world wars. Fridays for Future As the COP 26 wraps up in Glasgow, tomorrow many young people around the world are encouraged to show their support for the Fridays for Future movement. This was initiated by Greta Thunberg. In our support and commitment to this movement, we are encouraging everyone to wear GREEN tomorrow. Raising awareness of climate change is crucial for our learners as we prepare them for our exponentially changing world, of which climate is a significant part.
