What I am excited about this week!
DARMUN! Last weekend, our students participated in DARMUN X, a virtual Model United Nations conference sponsored by the International School of Tanganyika. This was an exciting opportunity to participate in a COVID-friendly conference and our student delegates did a great job presenting and debating solutions to some of the world’s problems. You can learn more later in this newsletter. Congratulations to our delegates and their advisors, Ingrid Turner and Tom Potter. Virtual Election General Meeting on 21 April! Please join the Board of Directors for our virtual Election General Meeting (EGM) via Zoom at 18:00 on 21 April. The meeting will include a welcome from the Board Chair, speeches by our board candidates, electronic voting, and a report from the Director. As per the school’s Articles of Association and By-Laws, only parents or legal guardians who are present at the meeting may participate in the election. You can learn more about our three candidates below. Participants will need to register in advance by clicking on this Zoom link. This meeting is open to all parents or legal guardians of students at AISL. ASA Session Four! Remember that sign-ups for our final ASA session will open tomorrow morning at 08:00. In the past, we have had a week between when one session ends and the next one begins but we have decided to adjust our scheduling so that we roll directly from one session to the next. Session Three ends tomorrow, 16 April and Session Four will begin on Tuesday, 20 April. Please check your email for instructions for how to sign up or see the article later in this newsletter. Next PTA Quiz Night on 28 April! It was great to restart the quiz last night with four very good teams. The competition was close and after the final round the scores for two teams were tied at 55 points. After a tie break question (How many words are in the complete works of Shakespeare?) the Quizzerly Bears just pipped our previous winners, S Quad Squad, to the prize. Please join us for the next PTA Quiz Night at 18:30 on 29 April. Entry is K5o per team member with up to four people per team. Teams may bring their own food and drink. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space is limited and advance sign-up is required. Please sign up here and be sure to enter the names of each team member plus your team name. Comments are closed.
