Trunk or Treat – What a Treat! Over 700 excited children and adults were on campus last Friday and it was an incredible event. The PTA went to amazing lengths to decorate the campus and there were 19 trunks! A huge thanks to the PTA for all their hard work and organization in making this annual event so successful and which is simply a wonderful tradition of AISL. ISAZ Teachers Teaching Together Conference On Saturday, AISL opened its doors to almost 400 educators from all over Zambia. Pre-COVID, this was an annual event hosted by AISL as part of our support for ISAZ (Independent Schools Association Zambia) and it is something we are able to now support again. It was a mammoth event requiring hours of prep over many months, undertaken by a dedicated group of AISL Faculty and Staff. The Honorable Douglas Syakalima, the Minister of Education, spoke at the opening ceremony and both press and TV were there to mark the occasion. It was a wonderful day of learning and reconnecting for everyone. Visit from the regional Educational Officer (REO) from the US Office of Overseas Schools This week the REO from the US State Department, Dr Tim Stuart, visited our school. Dr. Stuart is a great supporter of our school and has visited before when he was Head at ICS in Addis. He loves our facilities and spent the day speaking to the leadership team and our Director of Inclusion on how he can best assist the school going forward. We are grateful to the Office of Overseas Schools for their unwavering support in terms of expertise and resources. Board Annual General Meeting (AGM) Agenda Notice #4 The AGM is next Thursday, 16 November, at 18:00 in the Pavilion. The Board has asked for questions in advance over the last few weeks in order to be prepared to respond effectively. They will accept questions up to the end of the day Monday, 13 November. Please send any questions to [email protected]. Here is the agenda for the meeting:
We are working on the calendar dates for the next school year. Once passed by the Board at the next Board meeting in a week’s time, we will share with the community. And next Friday… This is set to be wonderful entertainment and open for all ages to watch. A great family night out! And Lest We Forget… On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918, the World announced the Armistice of WW1 - the war to end all wars…. Owing to the development of technology, it was the first time in history where a cease fire could be announced with somewhat accuracy. There were so many lessons to be learned from that war and yet peace still eludes us as a planet. And to all Our Indian Families for Sunday… Happy Diwali! With kind regards,
Dr. Oli Tooher-Hancock Director Comments are closed.
