From the Director

28/1/2021

Tonight’s COVID-19 Mitigation Measures Presentation POSTPONED:  Because the reopening of our campus has been postponed, we have decided to delay the parent session about our COVID-19 mitigation measures until closer to our reopening. In the mean-time, please review the school’s health and safety measures that are posted on our COVID-19 webpage. There you can explore our Reunite 2020: Campus Reopening Plan or some of the previous parent presentations. We will broadcast the time, date, and link for the rescheduled presentation next week but, in the mean-time, you are always welcome to contact me with questions about our health and safety protocols (rmenard@aislusaka.org).

Continuation of Learning Paths 2 & 3: Due to the delayed reopening of our campus, we will continue to deliver our educational program via Learning Paths 2 (synchronous distance learning) and Learning Path 3 (asynchronous distance learning) until 15 February. If you have any questions about how your child can best engage with this program, please contact the teachers, advisors, or division principals. We would much rather be teaching in person but until that is possible, we are committed to offering the highest quality distance learning experience that we can.

Survey Results: Many thanks to the 191 respondents to last week’s community survey. Your responses, and especially your comments, were very instructive and served as an important data point in the Board’s discussion about the reopening of campus.

Here are the highlights:
  • There was a preference among the respondents for students to return to campus as soon as possible. This choice was selected by 65% of respondents while 35% preferred to delay opening to monitor COVID-19 infection levels.
  • 97.4% of respondents were either very satisfied (59.2%) or satisfied (38.2%) with the school’s COVID-19 mitigation measures. Of the remaining respondents, 1% were dissatisfied and 1.6% had not reviewed the measures.
  • 96.9% of respondents were either very satisfied (48.7%) or satisfied (48.2%) with the frequency and detail of our communications about COVID-19. Of the remaining respondents, 2.6% were dissatisfied and 0.5% were very dissatisfied.
  • For viewing, The Queen’s Gambit, Cobra Kai, and the Mandalorian were popular as well as the documentary My Octopus Teacher.
  • For reading, the Harry Potter series was definitely the fan favorite! Honorable mentions go to Americanah, Born a Crime, The Bible, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Hunger Games, The Sympathizer, and Woodwalkers.
