From the Director

4/2/2021

What I am excited about this week!

100th Day of School! Today marks the 100th day of school in the 2020-21 academic year. We traditionally celebrate this day in the Primary School with a lot of “100”-themed events (often including loads of tasty treats!). Although this year’s 100th day festivities are dampened somewhat by a closed campus, we still have much to celebrate. We have been able to host on-campus learning for 77 of those 100 days, which is a better record than many schools around the globe. Despite the pandemic, we have continued to offer high quality learning experiences for all our learners and maintained a safe and healthy campus. Furthermore, the challenges of these last 100 days have shown us all what a resilient and supportive community we have here at AISL. I feel honored to be a part of this community every single day. Happy 100th Day!

New Food Service Provider: Newrest! I am pleased to report that we have selected a new food service provider for the school. As you may recall, we called for proposals prior to the Festive Break. After reviewing the proposals, a group of volunteer students and staff members sampled the food from our three finalist vendors and provided feedback. The highest ranking vendor was Newrest. Newrest is an international, ISO-certified company that specializes in institutional food services. Its 35,000 employees prepare 1.36 million meals per day in 58 countries. After we reopen the campus, Newrest will be reaching out to families to share menu and pricing information as well as information about their swipe card and app technology, which will facilitate student accounts and cashless transactions.  We are thrilled to be working with Newrest and are looking forward to providing our students, parents, and staff members with a high-quality catering service.
