What I am excited about this week… Zambia Day was AMAZING! Many thanks to the dozens of staff members who worked together to make this year’s Zambia Day so special. Across the day, our students had the opportunity to participate in activities that helped them appreciate Zambian culture. At the end of the day, we had an assembly that featured performances by our students, Jasper Sea, Theresa Ng’ambi, and Circus Zambia. The assembly closed with the whole school singing Tiyende Pamodzi along with our special guest, His Excellency Dr. Kenneth D. Kaunda, First President of the Republic of Zambia! It was a truly moving moment and one of the highlights of my seven years in Zambia. ISSEA! This week we have two teams participating in ISSEA tournaments. ISSEA stands for International Schools of Southern and Eastern Africa and is our international high school sports and cultural events league. ISSEA is comprised of seven other schools: AIS Johannesburg, AIS Mozambique, Harare International School, International School of Uganda, International School of Kenya, International School of Tanganyika, and the International Community School of Addis Ababa. Each year our students participate in at least eleven ISSEA events, each one hosted by an ISSEA school. This week our Track and Field team is competing in Uganda and our Volleyball teams are competing in Kenya. You can learn more and even follow the events via live stream (where available) at the official ISAZ website (https://www.isseafrica.com/), which was created by our very own Edwin Kamangala! GO LEOPARDS! ASA Sign Up on Friday! We are about to begin our second session of After School Activities (ASA’s). We are proud to offer an extremely robust program, especially for a school our size. You can learn a bit more in this week’s “Did you know?” section. Please encourage your child to participate. Sign-ups begin on 25 October at 08:00 via the MyCHQ platform. Please check your email for details. ASA’s will begin on Tuesday, 29 October. PTA Meetings Next Week! Please join us for one of the two PTA meetings on offer next week. The PTA has moved to a two-meeting format to try to offer convenient timings. Each meeting will have the same agenda. The evening meeting will be held on 29 October at 18:00 and the morning meeting will be held on 31 October at 07:30. Trunk or Treat Tickets are Selling Fast! The PTA has been busy planning another wonderful Trunk or Treat event. Please plan to join us on 1 November from 17:00-19:30 for trick-or-treating, games, crafts, food, and a cash bar. Tickets are K100 and are on sale at the offices and at the Friday Market. They are likely to sell out, so I highly recommend you buy your tickets right away. Comments are closed.
