Health and Safety Update

3/12/2020

Thank you for all the support we have received for our rigorous health and safety protocols. We recently had our third inspection by the Ministry of Health since August and they were very pleased by the high standards we have maintained. Interestingly, we have even recently received some enrolment applications for families who are specifically choosing us over other schools because of these high standards.

I am frequently reminded about how the limitations we are enforcing can be inconvenient or frustrating to some people. While that is regrettable, please understand that we are working hard to keep our campus open for students. We have been able to do so for 15 weeks now and we wish that to continue. I am in regular contact with dozens of school heads from around the world and more and more of them are facing positive cases among their staff and students and are having to close campuses and return to distance learning. We are working hard to avoid that. That has meant that we have taken a stricter approach to campus access and limited more activities than many people wish. While these measures have not won me any popularity contests in certain circles, I hope that you can understand and support them in the interest of the health of our community and an open campus.

Having said that, with each week that goes by without incident, we are seeing a bit more complacency among our students. This is likely to get even worse with the promising news of vaccines causing people to let their guard down even further. If you have been watching our Health and Safety Dashboard, you will have seen an increase in the number of disciplinary infractions we have had around mask use and safe-distancing. Please make a point of speaking with your family about the importance of following our health and safety protocols. We share a collective responsibility to keep ourselves and other people healthy. I appreciate your help in reinforcing this important message.
