Did you know?COP stands for Conference of the Parties, and will be attended by countries which signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) - a treaty created in 1994. The 2021 meeting will be the 26th meeting, which is why it's called COP26. The official link to the COP26 Virtual Book Showcase is now live and available to use until 22 November 2021. Please click on this link to check out the titles and buy some great e-reads for all ages about climate change and how to be a part of the solution. Our Climate Club ASA leader, Clare Cullen, put together a special slideshow to inform students about COP26. So many stories to share!Unfortunately, cybercriminals and opportunistic thieves know that the most vulnerable gatekeeper to private/sensitive information or even credit card/banking details is often children online. In order to teach our students how to be cautious and thereby safer on their devices, the Gr6 students had their first digital citizenship lesson about how phishing and internet scams work. They were taught some clues (such as misspellings, urgent pleas, and too good to be true deals) that help alert them to danger. Teachers and students shared stories of trouble they have experienced but we ran out of time to hear all the stories. So if you have a Gr6 student, please ask your child about the lesson or go to this MYP LibGuide titled Scams and Schemes to find more resources to continue the learning. Gr7 Storybook Art DisplayIn Ms. Never's art class, the Gr7B students illustrated original stories they wrote for the Gr1 students. The seventh graders used an expressive cartoon style and were asked to consider how drawing, composition, and colour can all enhance a story.
