Hello. My name is Kim Shumlansky and I am the new secondary librarian. I moved from Ethiopia to Zambia two weeks ago with my husband John who works for an American NGO, my son Louis who is in G11 and my daughter Neo who is in G9. I met Terry Maguire and Jill Daley three years ago when they came to Addis for a librarian conference that I was hosting at ICS. In March of 2020, I was ten days away from coming to Lusaka for the librarian conference that Terry and Jill were set to host when the covid pandemic dashed that dream. Fast forward to now and it is wonderful to finally come to AIS and see the gorgeous campus and meet the vibrant community that I now get to join. As you might guess if you knew the outgoing librarian Terry Maguire, I was left with thorough and wonderfully detailed takeover notes so there won't be many changes to the thriving library program of the past few years. I will continue to teach lessons on research, note-taking, citing sources, digital citizenship, etc to the MYP students and I will help the DP students with the extended essay in my role as the EE Coordinator.
