Each year, members of the American International School Leopards Chapter of the National Honor Society take on a service project to help the local community. This year, in response to the growing concern about global climate change, members sold raffle tickets to raise money to buy “carbon credits” from a Zambian forest conservation company, BioCarbon Partners (https://biocarbonpartners.com/about/our-story-and-values/). NHS members took it upon themselves to raise awareness of the escalating climate concern and promote the carbon credits to offset what we often consume in our everyday lifestyles. In total, NHS members raised 15,640 ZMK, or $870. We were able to purchase 87 carbon credits as a school. A special thank you goes to all those who supported the initiative by buying tickets.
