Novel Coronavirus 2019 (2019-nCoV) Update

6/2/2020

Novel Coronavirus 2019 has now been declared by the WHO to be a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). As of this writing, there are still no confirmed cases of this virus in Africa but all medical authorities are monitoring the situation closely - as are we!  Based on the information that we have received so far from medical authorities, we plan to continue with school as normal.

Here are some of the actions we have taken to be proactive in protecting everyone on campus:

  • We are in the process of installing hand sanitizer stations around campus and on the buses
  • Nurse Jennifer is visiting classes to conduct short lessons that remind students about basic health and hygiene practices. She also shared similar information in the last two  Leopard’s Tale newsletters.
  • We have intensified our cleaning schedules with NemChem.
  • Based on the advice of the Embassy of China, we have requested that any student or parent who has recently visited China remain off campus until fourteen symptom-free days have passed since their trip.

If you wish to learn more, here are informative websites from the CDC and WHO.

Rest assured that we will be monitoring this situation closely and will respond to any developments accordingly.
