Exactly one year ago today, we closed our campus as COVID-19 spread around the globe. Who would have guessed then at the scale of the global tragedy that would unfold? Although Zambia’s struggle with COVID-19 is far from over, please join me in marking this anniversary by taking a few moments to celebrate what we as a community have managed to achieve despite this global disaster.
Since 18 March, 2020, our team has worked tirelessly to continue providing a world-class education under very difficult circumstances. Our students and teachers have adapted to online learning, hybrid learning, and, finally, highly regulated face-to-face learning. Our parents have offered patience and support and have expressed a high degree of trust and confidence in what we are doing. As a community, we have daily demonstrated resilience and grit in the face of this invisible threat. As Browning wrote in Prospice, "For sudden the worst turns the best to the brave." We have weathered – and will continue to weather – this terrible storm together, as a community. On this unfortunate anniversary, I could not be more proud to be a part of the AISL family.
