Parent Presentation: Supporting and sharing student learning in the PYP (assessment and reporting)21/9/2021
At AISL, assessment is an ongoing process of gathering and evaluating information in order to guide learning and teaching that contribute to the development of the whole person. Our goal for assessment is to empower and motivate students to take ownership of their learning. Assessment develops and supports independent learners in becoming confident, courageous, and reflective. (AISL Primary Handbook p. 21)
We have four written reports: two interim reports in October and March and two semester reports in December and June. Additionally we have three conferences: a listening conference in August and Parent-Teacher conferences in October and April. Students also share their learning during Unit of Inquiry celebrations of learning twice a year, as well as on Seesaw as their digital portfolio. Please take the opportunity next week to learn how we gather evidence of student learning and use that data to inform instruction in the classroom in a parent presentation in-person, on-campus in the Protea Room on Tuesday, 28 September 2021 from 08:00-09:00. The session will also provide an opportunity to clarify any questions regarding the PYP report card format. Tony Potts, the Primary Assistant Principal for Technology and Innovation, and Christine Kelly, the Primary Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning, will be jointly leading this session.
