Reflection is an important part of MYP learning.
Dewey states "There is no learning from experience only learning by reflecting on experience"
"An MYP classroom is itself a model of a community—it is a lively place, characterised by collaborative and
purposeful activity. Within this community, students are empowered to do their best, for themselves, and
to contribute to the learning and well-being of others. They are supportive of each other and will come
to establish their personal set of beliefs and values. The community encourages reflection, and values
thoughtful consideration of issues, problems and success.
An MYP classroom is a balanced classroom, in the sense that teachers balance the pursuit of
understanding and the construction of meaning with the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes. To
do this, teachers use a range of teaching and assessment strategies and resources to meet the needs of each
student. In this setting, students are actively engaged in planning and assessing their own learning. MYP
classrooms are dynamic learning environments, with students moving from group work to individual work
in response to their needs and the needs of their inquiries.
In summary, an MYP classroom is a place for thinking and where the expectations are high. It is an
environment that is focused on learning."
In Trevor Mrak's Individuals and Societies class, students completed formative projects investigating the invisible elements of their own culture and present them as a "Dos and don'ts travel guide" for the country/culture (podcasts, videos, pamphlets, etc.). After submitting their work, they did an organised gallery walk where all students had to provide both positive and constructive feedback for three assigned peers, and then finish with a self reflection on the process and success level for their own work.

The Leopard's Tale is our main medium to keep our families informed on such things as the day to day happenings on campus, after school activities, summaries of any arts and sports events, helpful resources, and important dates and reminders.
