The AISL Secondary School will host our Student-Involved Conferences during the afternoons of Wednesday 9 October and Thursday 10 October from 13:00-17:00. We encourage all parents to attend and to bring their child along so that communications of expectations are clear. As requested by many of our parents, this will be the first year that we will offer scheduling of conferences to parents prior to the conference days on a semi-first-come, first-served basis. Before the scheduling form opened to all parents, teachers sought out specific parents to schedule a time slot. All remaining slots are open for sign-ups to all other parents. We recommended that you prioritize the teachers with whom you’d like to speak. If you are unable to meet with all teachers that you would like, you can always arrange a time to meet with a teacher outside of the conference times. Conferences are limited to 10 minutes. Please be respectful of these time limits since there will be other parents waiting. Teachers have been asked to run a display timer on their iPads to keep track of time and respect waiting families. If you have issues that require a longer conversation, please make an appointment with the teacher for another day. Also, when booking your time slots, please be mindful not to book them back to back as you will need time to move between classrooms. Please follow this conference sign-up link to access the Google sheet to arrange times to meet with your child’s teachers. The instructions for sign-up can be found at the top of the form. Very Important: Please note that there are separate tabs at the bottom of the sheet for each day of the conferences. Be sure to refer to both tabs when searching for a free cell to sign-up. Due to venue limitations, we will hold conferences in individual teacher’s classrooms. Members of the administrative staff will be centrally located in the Secondary office to help parents manage logistics. The administrative staff will be prepared to assist with campus maps, including the location of each teacher, as well as access to student schedules should parents need an extra copy. Tea and coffee will be in this area as well as the National Honor Society's and the Prom Committees’ Bake Sale. Some teachers do not have specifically assigned classrooms. They can be found in the following locations:
On these days, students will have shortened classes. Please see the schedule below. Note that there will be no lunch served on these days as well as no after-school activities with the exception of ISSEA and drama production practices. All students that are not staying with a parent are expected to be off campus by 12:30.
Finally, please note that students and parents will not receive interim reports until Friday 11 October. This is scheduled in order to allow teachers the maximum amount of time to complete assessments for the first quarter before reporting on student progress. As always, parents are able to keep up to date with their child(ren)’s progress via ManageBac throughout the entire school year. We look forward to seeing all of you. Comments are closed.
