Mark Reinman is one of AISL’s newest Language and Literature teachers, having recently moved to Zambia from the United States. Teaching internationally is not new to Mr. Reinman, as he has taught abroad in several countries; the closest to Zambia being Ghana. Mr. Reinman was drawn to Zambia due to our close knit and welcoming community at school, which he found out about through Dr. Seiler, who is a friend. In his opinion, the most important aspect to living somewhere is in the community, not the physical location itself. Here at AISL, we are lucky to have both: a beautiful country and a close knit community!

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Reinman believes the greatest hurdle to education was the abrupt switch to online learning, as he considers school to be a social activity that thrives off of collaboration and cooperation. For a significant time, COVID-19 prohibited this. However, in spite of the difficulties that online schooling presented, Mr. Reinman believes that students and teachers maintained an enthusiastic attitude throughout, and is proud of the AISL community’s perseverance through these taxing times.

Fun Fact: In his spare time, Mr. Reinman loves to read and write - two aspects crucial to his subject of Language and Literature. He also finds interest in the culinary arts, as well as in swimming.
