Model United Nations (MUN) at AISL

11/11/2020

The Model United Nations (MUN) afternoon activity has begun. Christina, Jay, Nkweto, Bernice, and Oyinkansola, collaborate to lead this group. All five students are extraordinary leaders and role models and have planned the next weeks’ debates and activities with expertise.

In the first MUN session, they built relationships and identified prior experience and discussed plans for future face to face or online conferences. In the second meeting they began with a quick MUN quiz, read an article and members signed up to represent countries. They then researched, and were introduced to, opening speeches and then they debated. Members had been sent a survey to find out what they wanted to debate. As a result, this week ‘gun control’ was debated. Students were risk-takers, and our lovely Christina was encouraging and brought humour to the debate as usual. Next week, Rachael will be co-chairing in order to learn more about this role.
