![]() Our Grade 7 students engaged in discussion and activities this week designed to encourage the same level of kindness and civility on-line that one would hope to show others when interacting in person. Students considered a range of real-world scenarios related to social media use and looked at how one can adopt the role of being a bystander, an upstander, or an ally- with the goal of engaging in more "upstanding" behavior to call out inappropriate or unkind on-line interactions. We considered when it is appropriate to block a person and report issues as well as ways to de-escalate digital drama when interacting with peers and friends on-line. Students across all secondary grade levels have classes on digital citizenship scheduled at various points throughout the year that are jointly taught by Mr. Tony Potts, Primary School Assistant Principal & Director of Technology Innovation and Ms. Terry Maguire, Secondary School Librarian. Parents are welcome to view any of the topics and resources used for these lessons on the Middle School Advisory Libguide or the High School Advisory Libguide (password is the same as for Parent Portal).
