What has been happening this past week...We are very excited about the new Early Learning Center and Visual Arts classrooms being completed. The initial moves have begun and teachers are very eager to set up the wonderful, purpose-built classrooms that will be ready to greet children upon their return. Below are some images of the new space. We can't wait to put them to use! Community connections![]() We had our second Primary Assembly for Learning and Sharing this past Friday with over 90 children attending. Our Modern Language teachers shared some of the highlights and key learning moments from our students in French and Spanish over the past week. We also had a special story read to us by Ms Jill, celebrated the August birthdays, and heard an update about the Talent Show process from Ms Natalie. We look forward to keeping our momentum going with our PALS assemblies. In the coming weeks, we will start alternating the last period on Fridays between our assemblies and some small connection groups, facilitated by a teacher, where students have 20-30 minutes on alternating Fridays to connect with classmates and friends socially. Our students have been asking for this time and we would like to integrate a way to honor this request. Spotlight on studentsAs a part of their 'How we express ourselves' unit of inquiry, third grade thinkers have been exploring their passions. To help them prepare for an upcoming unit project, they brainstormed ideas about possible ways they might express their passions in creative, innovative, and helpful ways. This experience helped them expand their ideas before narrowing down and proposing their options. Below are a selection of the brainstorming sheets. Time to check-inWith the month of August behind us, we would love to check in with all of you to find out how the teaching and learning is going for your child and family. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. Ideally, we would love to have you complete one for each child you have at AISL as experiences may differ. We look forward to hearing from you.
