Dear parents, We had a great first week back from the October holiday! It was business as usual, with students learning, playing, and interacting with each other from safe distances. Thank you to those families who left the country for the break and who are now self-quarantining for 14 days. We appreciate everyone working together to keep our school and community safe. The Secondary students needed some reminding at the start of the week about staying 1.5 meters away from each other during break times. Because our top priority is the health and safety of our students and staff, we want to make sure everyone is aware that there are consequences for receiving repeated warnings about not following health and safety guidelines. The consequence is that the student may be sent home for up to three days and can continue learning with us online. Please help us keep everyone safe by having a conversation with your child about the importance of social distancing and wearing a mask. We know it can be hard for students to remember, which is why we remind them. However, if it’s too hard for them to remember, then online, distance learning might be a better short-term solution for them. Save the Date!We host three to six Parent Information Sessions each month to support our parents in understanding what their children are learning and how to support them at home. If you have ideas about Parent Information Sessions that you or others would like to attend, please let our Assistant Principal, Dr. Sheila Seiler, know by writing her at sseiler@aislusaka.org. Upcoming Parent Information Sessions: Thursday 15 October 18:00-18:30 - Reporting using the ATLs This session will help parents understand what the Approaches to Learning are in the IB, how they better report student learning, and what the new report card will look like. Our Assistant Principal, Dr. Sheila Seiler, MYP coordinator, Ingrid Turner, and Grade 6-7 teacher, Elna van Rensburg, will host this information session. Parents can join by clicking on this link. Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 October 13:00-17:00 - Student-Parent-Teacher conferences CommunicationWe know that this can be a time filled with uncertainties, so please understand that our highest priority is the health and well-being of your children. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at rodum@aislusaka.org and sseiler@aislusaka.org.
Have a wonderful October break! Kind regards, Dr. Rick Odum, Secondary Principal Dr. Sheila Seiler, Secondary Assistant Principal Comments are closed.
