In Memory of Jo Bicknell

Picture

AISL 2004 - 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce to the AISL community the passing of our teacher, close friend and colleague, Jo Bicknell. Jo was a teacher at AISL since 2004, having touched the hearts and lives of many students and families during her sixteen years at the school.

Jo was a true advocate in all that she did; continually aiming to help each student reach his/her potential academically, personally, and socially. Her classroom balanced academic rigor with a sense of humor and community. Students felt safe to take risks in their thinking with Jo’s care and encouragement; her support often extended hours beyond the school day.

Jo continually demonstrated a strong commitment, not only to the students in her classroom and in the school, but to the wider AISL community as well. She was a member of the AISL Community Choir; volunteered her time for many Triathlons; was an instrumental member of various curriculum committees; organized and chaperoned ski trips; and planted the idea for the G4-5 Social which has become an upper primary tradition.

On behalf of AISL, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Bicknell family. Jo’s energy, enthusiasm, sense of humor, and passion for teaching will forever be remembered by colleagues, friends, students, and families, both past and present.
Please add your messages of condolence, memories, and photos here:
