Each year our students take part in the NWEA Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) growth assessments in the areas of math, English language usage, and reading, also in English.  The MAP assessments are taken by all Secondary students in Grades 6-10 in September and again in May to measure student progress against the standards of the U.S. Common Core Curriculum.  These external exams help the school better understand the level of education delivered to our students.
AISL continually scores above the norms for United States schools, international schools, and schools affiliated with the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA). Making this more impressive is that AISL boasts students from over 40 nationalities, many of whom are non-native English language users.

The results from last May were some of our best to date.  When comparing the AISL average to that of U.S., international, and AISA schools, all participating Secondary School grade levels performed at par or better than all three comparisons on every assessment.  Moreover, the longer our students stay with the AISL Secondary School educational program, the better they perform.  Our students even exceeded our own excellent AISL seven-year average in grades 8-10.  Each year, the gap widened between us and the U.S., international, and AISA averages, so much so that by Grade 10 the school average was well above the AISA average scores in all three assessments, a year of growth above the international average in all three assessments, a year of growth above the U.S. average in Language Usage, a year and a half growth above the U.S. average in Reading, and TWO years of growth above the U.S. in Math.

We are very proud of our students, teachers, and families as everyone plays a key role in continuing to play a role in the world class education that AISL continues to offer.

The next set of MAP assessments will begin to be administered starting the week of September 2.
