Grade 12 Update A HUGE congratulations to our Seniors! As of 15:30 on Thursday 20 May, they have completed all their exams. This is a momentous achievement after two years of hard work and preparation. Since we’ve been able to complete exams, our students will receive grades that reflect their demonstrated abilities. Students, parents, and faculty members have helped make this happen by committing to our health and safety protocols. Again, many thanks to our Senior Spirit parents for providing treats and hot drinks to our Seniors over the past few weeks. Parents, if you would like to view and use graduation photos for communications with family and friends, you can access them via this link. Washing Machine Week: After a well-earned weekend with NO homework, and NO DP exams to worry about, Seniors will be welcomed to a variety of Washing Machine Week activities next week. More information will be posted in the Student Portal soon. The IB has provided a webpage, “Understanding Assessment During COVID-19” with information about the awarding model for May 2021. If you explore any of the informational videos posted there, please bear in mind that we are on the “exam route”. Finally, students have been asked to fill out a form if they want their AISL transcripts, IB Diploma/Certificates and results to be FedExed to them. Parents and guardians, please remind your children to complete this if you’d like hard copies of these documents mailed to you. If you live in Lusaka, you can just drop by the school to pick up the documents. The IB documents arrive in September and we will email you to let you know when they’re ready for pick-up. Grade 11 Year-End Exams & Upcoming Information Session As indicated on the DP Assessment Calendar, Grade 11 students will be writing year-end exams next week. To allow for revision time, they will have no regularly scheduled classes during this week. Students are free to come to campus to study, or to stay at home if they prefer. Students will complete a written exam in all of their subjects except in Group 1 (Language and Literature) and Group 6 (Arts). For Group 1, instead of a written exam they’ll be completing their Individual Oral; these have already been scheduled individually. Students in Visual Arts and Music have a regular DP assessment component due this week. The purpose of these exams is to prepare students for the level of rigor that they can expect from Grade 12 mock exams, as well as the DP exams in May 2022. These exams are designed to closely match DP exams in terms of intensity and, in some cases, scope, but they are weighted as normal summatives for marking purposes. All students have been invited to their exams on Google Calendar. The exam times are as follows:
Parents of Grade 11 students, please note that on Wednesday 2 June there will be an online student/parent information session hosted by DP Coordinator Monica Murphy and High School Counsellor Julie Baldry. The session will focus on the following:
