Friday 21 September: HS Coffee House is Back!

Our first high school (grades 9-12) Coffee House of the year will be on Friday 21 September from 19.00-20.30 in the library. Coffee Houses give students a chance to share a huge range of creative expression in a supportive, relaxed environment. In contrast to polished concerts & shows, coffee houses are all about trying out new ideas and material and developing courage by putting oneself out there.  Here are just some of the types of coffee house acts we've seen:

• Ukulele Bands (yes, it really is a thing!)
• Rap
• Poetry & Spoken Word
• Dance
• Stand-up Comedy
• Song
• Improv Theater
• Rock Bands
• Original monologues

Like other years, we will host 3 coffee houses for upper secondary (grades 9-12) & 3 for middle school (grades 6-8).  Student work must follow our AISL Secondary School Guidelines for Sharing Creative Expression.​ If you have any questions about the coffee houses, please see Mr. Illingworth in the Fine Arts Department or Ms. Maguire in the library.
