Snake Safety! Due to our location at the edge of town we periodically have snakes on campus. Despite the fact that the majority of them are harmless, their visit to campus generally ends badly for the snakes. In order to be truer to our commitment to the environment and to conservation, we have decided to take positive action. This weekend, one of Zambia’s resident snake experts, Jeff Lloyd, has generously volunteered his time to train several of our staff members in how to identify snakes and then safely and humanely relocate them. Many thanks to the team at Kalimba Reptile Farm who have agreed to let us practice capturing their snakes. I must say that this is one of the most unusual professional development experiences I have encountered but I am thrilled at the prospect of sparing the lives of our slithering friends.
