As part of our strategy, including student agency and action is a central focus. Strategy Update Summary Speaking of strategy, we continue to work on the framework to produce a clear, transparent document which will guide a way forward with the overall Impact goal that: The AISL Community is thriving because it is innovative, inclusive and imaginative. We have one overarching goal Where our two plans (strategy and financial) complement each other Noting our three overarching concepts are: Innovative, Inclusive and Imaginative And our four domains Governance, Finance, Environment and Learning Are developed with involvement from the five components of our community: learners, teachers, parents, Board members and the administration. We are focusing on: A greener and sustainable campus Greater Community Usage Design spaces, innovation and technology (AI, coding, etc) Everybody included We will do this by: Continuing to collect data (community voice) Examine global best practices Continuing to use the IB framework and its philosophy to ground our decision making Celebrating Gratitude. A wonderful collage from the library of students writing comments on what they were grateful for in Zambia. Conversation Next Friday
We look forward to seeing as many of you join in the Pavilion Conversation centered around intelligence and creativity on Friday, 30 September at 7.30 am in the Palm Pavilion. Tomorrow is the Friday Market This week, we have 17 vendors signed up plus our own students from the Wildlife CCA are doing some fundraising. The PTA will be having a book swap and Tesseract, a “robotics” startup, will have a demonstration table. It should be fun! And save the date – Coming up in late October: the Annual General Meeting (AGM) The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Parent Association will be on Thursday, 27 October. Please join us in person on 27 October at 18:00 in the Pavillion. All parents of AISL students are welcome. The agenda for the meeting will include the following: Meet the Board, our School Strategy, School Report, and Financial Report. If you have any questions, please email them in advance to ahasse@aislusaka.org so leadership is ready to answer them in a timely manner. And something for us all to actively listen to and consider, the very poignant words of U.S. poet Amanda Gorman at the opening of the 2022 U.N. General Assembly week with a poem about the planet: "Though this fight we did not choose for preserving the earth, isn't a battle too big to win, but a blessing too large to lose." Here’s to another incredible weekend in Zambia. With kind regards, Dr. Oli Tooher-Hancock Director Comments are closed.
