What I’m excited about this week…

  1. ISAZ Teachers Teaching Teachers Conference! On Saturday, AISL will once again be hosting the annual ISAZ Teachers Teaching Teachers Conference. Open to all ISAZ schools, this conference is the premier professional development experience of the year for independent schools in Zambia. In many ways, this is actually three conferences in one since there will be separate programs for teachers, sport coaches, and heads of school.  All in all, we are expecting 500 participants! I am pleased to report that, as always, AISL teachers will be running many of the workshops on offer. This is just another way that AISL demonstrates leadership in Zambia and gives back to the community. Many thanks to the large planning team made up of teachers, administrators, and support staff from AISL, LICS, ISL, and Baobab and ably led by Christine Kelly.
  2. Community and Service Day (CSD)! This week, students in Grades 6-12 will participate in our fourth Community and Service Day (CSD). These special days provide time for every student to contribute to one of more than twenty service projects on offer. Some service projects occur on campus and some are off campus. All of them are coordinated and led by Grade 11 and 12 students who work under the guidance of a faculty advisor. Community and Service Days occur seven times per year.
  3. PTA Leaders Needed! The terms of the PTA’s leadership team have now expired and we are looking for new people to step up and help out. Please consider joining the leadership committee. For more information or to express your willingness to help, please contact pta@aislusaka.org.
