What I am excited about this week…

ISAZ Teachers Teaching Teachers Conference!
AISL hosted the Independent Schools’ Association of Zambia (ISAZ) conference on February 11 and it was a great success. Open to all ISAZ schools, this conference is the premier professional development experience of the year for independent schools in Zambia. I am honored to report that AISL teachers ran about two‐thirds of the workshops on offer. These workshops are a great opportunity for AISL to show leadership in Zambia and give back to the community. Many thanks to the large volunteer planning team made up of teachers, administrators, and support staff from AISL, LICS, ISL, and Baobab. Many thanks also to all our AISL teacher-presenters and for our administrative and support staff who ensured that the event ran very smoothly.

Architect Visit!
Lyall Dukes from SVA Architects and a team of engineers were on campus this week to study the campus layout and to review our Campus Master Site Plan. After a competitive tendering process, we have appointed SVA Architects to design the \irst phase of our master site plan. This plan was designed to guide the investment of our annual capital development funds to ensure that we are building and maintaining facilities that will support and enhance our educational programs long into the future. I will keep you updated as we progress.

Professional Development Day on February 20 – NO SCHOOL!
There will be no classes nor after-school activities on Monday, February 20. This Professional Development day will allow the faculty to conduct important curriculum review and alignment work. We hold eight “PD” days per year, four of which take place before the school year begins. These days offer critical opportunities for the faculty to engage in deep analytical work in order to continuously improve teaching and learning at AISL.
