What I’m Excited About… TONIGHT: Conversation about the The Social Dilemma! Please join us tonight at 18:00 for a conversation about the new docudrama, The Social Dilemma, hosted by our Secondary School Teacher-Librarian, Ms. Terry Maguire. This film explores social media's effects on mental health, as well as how a user's time spent on social media sites is used for data mining and surveillance capitalism. Product developers, engineers, and a design ethicist share behind-the-scenes information about social media product development at Twitter, Facebook, Google, Instagram, and Youtube. Here's the film's trailer (2:34) if you'd like to learn more about this 2020 Sundance Film Festival official selection. Just click here to join. Even if you have not yet watched the film, I’m sure you will learn from the conversation. Annual General Meeting of the Parent Association on 16 December! PTA Quiz Night on 9 December! Congratulations to S quad Squad for a second victory in last week’s quiz. Thank you also to all the teams that participated: Rock Bottom, Quizzerly Bears, Swedes and Turnips, and Four Seasons Total Landscaping! We raised K900 for charity. The next quiz will have a Christmassy feel and will be on Wednesday, 9 December at 18:30 in the Pavilion, K5o per team member with up to 4 people per team. Please sign up here and indicate if you would like to use the braai facilities. Please bring your own food and drink. This will be the last PTA quiz of 2020 so come along and have some fun. As the sign in sheet is also used by security please enter the names of each team member plus your team name. 2019-20 Yearbook Distribution! Due to COVID-19, the 2019-20 yearbook was published digitally on the Parent Portal (click here). Since many people enjoy having a physical memento, we have just printed a limited number of hard copies. Across the next couple weeks, we will be distributing one yearbook to each family that was here last year. This yearbook features dozens of photos of Zambia submitted by members of our school community. I know you will enjoy it. Food Service Selection Process! We received nine submissions in our food service tendering process. Across the next couple weeks, a committee of staff and students will review these submissions and, ultimately, choose our next food service provider. We anticipate restarting food service in January 2021. Comments are closed.
