What I’m excited about this week…

  1. WorldFest! - Please Help with the International Food Festival -  WorldFest! is an opportunity for our students to celebrate our school’s cultural diversity. It will happen on Friday, 20 April. The day will feature a flag parade, a musical celebration, student activities, and one of our great AISL traditions: The International Food Fair. This fair is designed to allow our students to sample food from around the world. Please help make the food fair a great success by signing up to bring a platter of food that will expose our students to a taste of your home country. We still need a lot of help, so please sign up at https://goo.gl/FLpNJQ.  See the poster later in this newsletter for more details. Please bring all food contributions to the Protea Room on Friday.
  2. WorldFest! – Please Join the Flag Parade! Although most of the day’s events are for the students, we encourage parents to participate in our flag parade on Friday morning. All you need to do is gather under the flag of your country on the lawn next to the upper (secondary school) field at 07:45. Once everyone has gathered, each country is called and the flag is paraded around the field along with everyone from that country. I encourage you to wear national dress or colors. The parade only takes 20-30 minutes once it starts, so please consider joining us. It is great fun and provides great opportunities for photos.
  3. PYP Exhibition Parent Evening! The Grade 5 students will be holding their annual PYP Exhibition (PYPx) on Wednesday, 25 April at 18:30 in the PAC. The exhibition is a self-directed research project that serves as the culmination of the Primary Years Programme. Please come celebrate our students’ learning. I know you'll be impressed.
