What I am excited about this week…

  • Alice in Wonderland! Don’t miss this year’s primary school play, Alice in Wonderland. The students have been working very hard on practicing their parts. Please come celebrate and honor their hard work. Shows are in the PAC at 14:30 on 18 & 19 May. Tickets are K50.
  • AMIS International Middle School Choir Festival! The AMIS Festival was one of the highlights of the year and Saturday’s concert was brilliant. This festival also had some fun firsts. Although AMIS (the Association for Music in International Schools) has been around for decades, this was their first foray to Africa. This was also the first time - at least since I've been here - that a European school sent students to AISL. Along with Cairo American College, the American School of Doha, and ICS Addis, we were joined by students and teachers from the International School of Brussels. All the participants gushed about the warm welcome they received from our community. If you missed the concert, you can see pics and video on the school's FaceBook page. Many thanks to Dee Hausman for spearheading this wonderful experience. Thanks also to all of our generous host parents, Chel Illingworth, Edwin Kamangala, Daniel Golson, Martina Van Vlaanderen, James Biggs, and everyone else who pitched in to support the effort. These events require a big team and we're lucky to have such a great one.
  • IB Diploma Exams! The Grade 12 students are now halfway through their exam period.  These exams are an opportunity for the students to demonstrate their learning across the two-year program. Many thanks to all our talented teachers who helped the students get to this point. You can learn more about the exams and our resident examiners later in this newsletter. Good luck seniors!
